Celebrating my grandpa's 50th birthday

grandpa & grandma had to kiss before they were allowed to pass (ha..)

It was a big family event last evening as the Youthnet family celebrated Pastor Eugene's 50th birthday with a bang. We gathered together with his own family and relatives, several of his buddies, mentors and mentees in his life, our Senior Pastor Ps Khong, Ps Nina, and the LN24 (Ps E's spiritual brothers and sisters) to surprise the blindfolded man as his loving wife playfully led him to us.

i am so glad and blessed to be following this great man who is heading our mighty Youthnet. His life is an epitome of passion, compassion and consistency. Just like what he always reminds us 'The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart', Grandpa Eugene has demonstrated that he never fails to use his heart in everything he does. That is how he has touched so many lives, as depicted by the accolade of thanksgiving and gratitude he received last night from, i am sure, just a fraction of all whom he has warmed and touched.

i would summarise what i caught from Grandpa's life in this sentence: He is a father, and a giver. As simple as that. =)

i could probably be the only one to notice this, but innocently i recalled that there were no mention about his architectural reading and practice last evening. i have absolutely no doubt that he must have impacted many lives in these stages of his life too, but i saw that he has lived out his life for people to remember him as a father, a giver...not an architect. It is exactly the same for me. i want to grow such that people remember me as a mother and a giver, not miss amazing architect or anything else. =)

Guess who Grandpa gave glory to in the end? He resounded this truth throughout yesterday 'Apart from God, i can do nothing'. Yes, and we gave God a mighty standing ovation at the closing of the celebration. =)
